Howdy, everyone. I just purchased a 1977 Palm Beach, and have a lot of questions. I am reasonably handy, so hoping to do a lot of this myself, but always appreciate wisdom, guidance, tips, etc from those who have been there and done that!
First thing I have ordered the manuals, so I'm sure that will help once they get here.
Other details, I bought it from an older gentleman who was the second owner and had owned it for 30+ years.
Interestingly, first owner was Budweiser, and it was used for promotions as he said.
He kept it running over the years, but didn't use the camping stuff for well over 10 years since his kids all grew up and left home. Resurrecting those systems is a big priority so I can get out and start making some family memories myself!

If your technical skills are at least screwdriver finder, you are literate (you seem to write effectively) and you have an IQ above 90, you will probably have very little difficulty doing anything the coach needs. While these coaches were way ahead of their time, that time was nearly half a century gone......
You have ordered the manuals you said. Have you ever seen the abbreviation RTFM??
It means read the manual. If you find out you are missing something, you can download everything at GMCMI.com. You are also in either the territory of either Tide Water Crabs or Dixielanders. What that really means that you have your choice. This coach is more than just a big new toy, it connects you with a community that has few equals.

Now, the other thing you should get very used to is that this community is very helping and supportive. Some can be put off by this, but don't. You will need them. To this end, please fill in a more complete sigfile. It should have a real name. We like to know who we are helping and we meed it is less awkward. You included that the coach is a 77 PB, but this way you won't have to keep repeating that. A geographic reference would be good too. NC is about 500 miles wide and 180 north to south. I can pretty much promise you that you already have an old friend you need to meet. The roster lists about a dozen in NC and there may be more in striking range.

When you do have questions, please open as specific as you can. Remember, the only stupid question is the one that you are to stupid to know you need to ask. You will be very hard pressed to come up with an original issue.

The important thing is to get it safe and use it. When you figure out what the coach can do for you, you will understand what we all know and wish to share.

Matt I was going to ask how everyone got the info listed down at the bottom, I didn't see that option when I set up my profile. I'm sure I just overlooked it.
As far as community, many, many moons ago I used to travel in a VW camper, and that's one of the things I loved about that - meeting friends everywhere.

Hopefully the printed copies of the manuals will be here soon, thanks for the link to them online, meanwhile I have been doing little things, cleaning, removing trash, and going through all the papers I got with it. I do have some mystery parts I may be asking about. Providentially I don't think the PO did too much customizing, although there are the remains of an aftermarket CB and stereo I will have to sort through. My hope is to have her up and ready for some late spring/early camping... thanks!
 
To set a sigfile, go to top right and click on your avatar. A table will appear. Click on Signature and fill stuff in and then click "Save" when you like it. What you put there is not carved in stone, it can be rewritten as much as you like.

I'm warning you, when you get to a Dixielander's rally, you will have instantly acquired a whole bunch of brand new old friends. All of us, wherever we are based, are very interested to see that you get to enjoy both the coach itself and what it can do for you. We all know this.

Thank you very much for the kind welcome. While I know it will be years, if ever, before the Palm Beach is "Finished", I am hopeful to be able to get enough systems safely up and running to do some short trips this summer. Looking forward to meeting folks along the way!
