Thought I'd pass on new GPS software that'll probably surface soon: StreetPC
98.
It uses the Etka maps that are also used by some others (non-Delorme) GPS
offerings. The maps are pretty good but not great away from populous areas.
At the moment I'd save my money... coming up from LV to Fillmore UT it
wasn't really all that helpful nor entertaining. I'll hold off putting it
down completely until I use it to/in LA next week.
It has a better directions screen, kinda like the Phillips, Hertz, etc. but
the Delorme is still a favorite. Added the TOPO while cruising CompUSA in
LV. Still trying to figure that one out as to how useful it'll be.
BTW, I actually got on to MSN via cell (and then get my mail from the office
while logged on to MSN). It took several different modems and "far end"
combinations to find one that works. I.e. The combination that works with
MSN doesn't work with Prodigy or home... etc. etc.
Currently in Fillmore UT as the lone bird in the KOA. Heading into the hills
further on monday by car for a daytrip. I promised myself (and the GMC)
that we'd stay out of cold, sleet and snow after an ice caked trip through
Colorado a couple of years ago. I trust borderline doesn't count as we're
encountering below freezing at night and came through some sleet yesterday
at the higher elevation of I15. Oh well, back southward on Tue.
