And I now have the leaky brake line replaced thanks to Advance lending me a double flare kit robust enough to double flare the PolyArmor line I had in
3/16. Tomorrow I bleed after I get my hands all greasy unclippingg the old line and putting the new in the clip. Then check/grind wheel clearance on
the new calipers and make sure the flex lines don't touch the tires lock to lock. A couple laps down I 85 to prove the brakes. and then I can start
on the inside cleaning and put the reupholstered dinette and couch back in, and start researching routes to Patterson. Last time some of us stayed in
a Mississippi park just off I 10 and took the next morning to run on into Patterson. Freeway options are through Montgomery or through Birmingspam.
I*'ll do Montgomery. 6 hunnert miles and change is to me a two day trip. I can do it easily in one in my car, but I'd rather just sleaze along in
the GMC. Last time going home I stayed in a park on a river which emptied into the Mobile bay bay, and now I can't find it again. Lots of fishermen
stay there. It was either a city or county place at the time.

The chassis mechanicals are. All the house stuff has to be checked, I winterized it before I got after the engine. And it's about a good month's
work on a retired schedule. When I factor in the new diswasher, the new pumps in the clothes washer, new A/C furnace ducts (which I hired done) and
the other minutiae of daily living when economics dictates do it yourself even if you do it slowly. Add in dog shows and maintenance on duaghter's
car in the next town over, I been as busy as I wanna be but I'm getting it done :)

Johnny, Judy and I are kicking around the idea of attending a GMCMI rally
in 2020. Patterson, La. is about 2600 miles from where we are. That is 5+
days travel one way. With some sightseeing through the Southwest on the
return drive, we would probably have 10 days on the road, plus the length
of the Rally at Patterson. Long time away from home.
Sioux Falls is 1000 miles closer to where we are, so it would take a bunch
less travel time to attend it. Just kicking it around right now. Lotta
"if's" come into play between then and now. Are you planning to attend
Sioux Falls?
But, if push comes to shove, we could fly into Baton Rouge, rent a
car. Cost is about the same. But, money is not the only deciding factor
here. Time seems to be a precious commodity these days, and you can't get
the ones wasted back. Just sayin.

Sioux Falls is farther than I range in the GMC. I may increase it some with the new (read more reliable) squirrel. Not in the cards for 2020 though.
You're about as far from here - or Patterson - as you can get.
The early year is shaping up St Louis, Louisville, Lexington, the Carolinas, Alabama and tennessee. for shows. Some in tyhe GMC, some Air BnB
depending on a lot of factors. A major one being a nearby base with a famcamp, RV sites at shows are approaching Motel Sleaze prices.
In the midst of this is a month waitering for Paula while her new knee settles in.

Although I have to warn you, Sydney will talk your ear off......hence the good sippin tequila!!!

JimH, if you haven't seen the sights in the north, do a month's vacation. Across 90-94 to Minneapolis most of a week, the Great River Road to
Patterson, most of another week. Do GMCMI and you have most of two weeks to get across the southwest to the degree you wish. If I had the time I'd do
the reverse to Sioux Falls. My recollection of ND isn't positive, our E&I unit from Tulsa did a scheme up there in February one year installing Scope
Creek radios.

Jim,

The real answer for you is to make sure that the travel is not a waste. Get out the guide books and start now. We are hoping to make both spring and
fall internationals and both are in the 11~1200 mile range. Yeah, years ago (when Mary still had a job she liked) we did a single 1101 mile day. We
don't do that any more. Both Paterson and Rapid City will be at least four road days. I won't have any trouble finding interesting places to stop
along the "route". I say "route" because this will not be the shortest route of any of those possible. Going south, I am expecting to run the
Natchez Trace (again). That pretty 444 miles of low speed limit and no cross traffic is just hard to ignore. It is a terrific drive when the trees
are not full. This will be out forth time on the trace.

If Western States has a rally in striking distance and at a good time, we may just crash that one too. We had a great time with the western people
last time we did that.

Natchez Trace and The Blue Ridge are two of my faves. I manage to hit them every four or five years going someplace. My problem is, I need something
big enough for us, three dogs, and two cats. I looked into a bus conversion and after looking at the cost to maintain, looked elsewhere. Anything I
can afford to buy will need more loot than I have, even if I were to sell the GMC for value (which never happens anyway). When we gat down to a dog
and a cat or threwe, I'll reconsider travel.

I used to travel with my four children and wife in my GMC.
Do the dogs and cats take up that much room?

Wow! More travel stuff to consider. Last time we ventured East, we did a
rolling rally from Wilsonville, Oregon to Detroit, Michigan, back to
Chicago, Illinois to Madison and Michigan streets, the starting point of
the OLD ROUTE 66. Retracing the "mother road" back to the Santa Monica,
Pier in California, then up through California back to Gods Country
(Oregon). That took over 6 weeks, and covered over 6500 miles. So, Judy
wants to do the GREAT AMERICAN SOUTHWEST, Arches, Zion, Canyonlands, etc.
Ohhh, the things we saw, and the fine people we met. Fond Memories
are made of that. The Houston stopover at Scott Nutters place is a HUGE
inducement all by itself. We know lots of GMCers along that Southern Route.
Could easily turn that 5 day trip into 10 or 12.

I know in the past, when we went to thes International Conventions, we
zipped there and zipped back.
Now since were in the lat 70's we started to side track and see people that
we have been acquainted with. When our boys were young we visited 95% of
the States so we have see a lot and experienced. Those were the days before
we got involved with the GMC MH parts and service.
Financially we would have been better never getting into the GMC parts /svc
as it has increased expenses that has taxed our Air Filter side of our
business.
All things aside, the great people we have gotten to know all over USA and
the world has been a blessing we cannot put into dollars.

Emery, two of us plus the menagerie. You met one of the dogs' sires at either Patterson or Dothan I believe. Big white curly guy. The current Big
White Dog is 120 pounds, which wants a large crate. The two Border Collies are fifty pound, and can use medium crates. We need them because we feed
in crates, although I can get away with one large and one medium and feed one guy uncrated. Maybe remove the bunks/couch and put the drates and the
litter box for the cats there. This would cost a LOT of storage, particularly for heavy stuff. Ain't convinced Her it's doabloe yet.

Just my opinion.
Visiting those places during warm weather is when I let the generator run
constantly with roof A/C on.

A number of years ago, I had relatives in Santa Fe. We traveled to the
Southwest several times, and each time saw something different. Carlsbad
Caverns and the dusk bat flight. Indescribable. 2.5 million bats flying out
of that cave in a huge Vortex.
Grand Canyon, both North and South rims. Takes your breath away in the
changing light of dusk, then the clarity and silence of the moonless,
starlit, night sky.
The KODAK moments of the Hot Air Balloon Festival at Albuquerque,
New Mexico, Maria's Cantina in Santa Fe, where we tried to sample her
selection of over 100 Tequilas. (Didn't make it, not even close),
The whole enchilada festival in the middle of the Hatch Chilie harvest
at Los Cruces, New Mexico.
White Sands National Monument, can't miss that one. Alamogordo, and
the Trinity Site. The little Ali-en Inn, tourist trap for sure.
Cottontail Ranch, we drove by and did not stop. Nuff said.
You could easily become a desert rat, and disappear. No one would
miss you, and you would never be bored. When you die, you could just
shrivel up and dry, and the ever present winds would blow you up against an
old barbed wire fence like countless other tumbleweeds.
Well, I had better get my butt moving, got stuff to finish in the
shop. Restoring a 50's Airco AC/DC 200 AMP STICK WELDER/generator to go on
my 1969 Dodge D-200 shop truck, which is at the body shop for some rust
repair and a fresh coat of Desert Turquoise paint. Going to be a semi-show
truck, with cutting torches, welder/generator, utility boxes, corner hoist,
signage of my shop. JBH Products.
