New dash stereo ideas

Hello,
I am looking at replacing the old Realistic indash radio with a updated unit with Bluetooth and a USB input.
I would like to find one that I don't have to cut up the dash to get in. All the units I've seen so far are single din units that would need
extensive dash modifications.
Any Ideas? Thanks, Scott.

Year One, Crutchfield, Parts Express, Classic Industries, maybe even Jegs. Year One and Classic are the best bets to find a 2-shaft radio that has
modern features behind a retro face.

The radio that JimB installed in Double Trouble is VERY non-instinctive; at least for a 70 year old!

Rob is it one of the vintage look radios or a newer looking unit.
Frankly I hate new car stereos, they try to pack 10,000 features into 3 buttons and they are a nightmare to make work correctly in my experience.

My setup just has 2 bluetooth amps and no "stereo" I do all the controls from the tablet or phone.

Two things. First, if you carefully bend the tabs which held the original two knobs to the side, the opening is correct for a one DIB housing. All
you will then need is a slightly larger than normal bezel to cover about a 16th on the top and bottom of the original dial opening. Mike Briere's
coach - my ex 23' - is done this way.
Tow swtay away from Clarion. I have a Clarion single DIN folding screen set in my coach which I like and would like even better except there is no
way to update the maps. Crutchfield, who sold it to the P.O. can't even get Clarion to tell them what's to be done. Clarion won't even answer my
emails, telephone calls get no one who might even be aware of the situation - 'not my division, try this one', none of which help. They contracted
with an outside supplier to give updates for several modesl which actually used TomTom software modified for them. The outside supplier folded
several years ago. TomTom is now a portion of a Germ,an company 'Ve haff no support for dis product'. Look elsewhere.

Retrosound makes 'shaft style' radios with modern features that should easily fit. Bluetooth and auxiliary inputs are nice to have these days.

Looks to be around $300 for a unit that will fit.
Maybe it's time to go with a MacDash with a cutout for a newer style radio.

I just took an off the shelf kenwood with USB and AUX in, cut the hole to fit and it works great.

I have all my music on a USB stick and sirius XM hooked up to the AUX.

it will rock your socks off, The 12x2 sub doesn't hurt either :P

Unless, you are looking for just any reason to justify a Mac Dash... :d

True about not needing a MacDash to put in a updated radio. It has been on my update bucket list anyway.
$300 for a retro style radio, or $150 for a new style (kenwood, like Keith has) and put the saved money towards a MacDash.
But I have not seen a $500 MacDash, seems like it's about $850 or so.

Plus another 650 well spent dollars to install, for a total of $1500 - and you get no tach at that price so you might as well bump up to the next
level..

But, we are splitting hairs.

The point was mega bucks for the dash are not required for a respectable modern radio upgrade, unless that is just a means to a more desirable
end....not that there is anything wrong with that...
