New build (maybe)

I stand corrected on the bus, it deserves all the superlatives its collected.
What stops me in my tracks is that not only are you really smart about your improvements, you have the skills (and the discernment with vendors) to
actually realize them. Oh, and you actually bring your projects to completion, unlike most of us. (Sez the guy with his new air pump still mounted
with zip ties.) Sigh.
The guys at Prevost and other high-end builders should be following you around taking notes.

One example; Va and I travel and discover by sharing with each other moment by moment. I would never consider a high-end coach (even if I could afford
it) where the passenger seat is aft of the drivers seat to accommodate the original entry door. That would put my best-friend/lover/bride out of my
immediate space. Your solution to move the steering to enable side-by-side seating is a brilliant solution, thus solving a problem no one else even
mentions. Yet, side-by-side seating is central to my/our travel experience. Well done sir.

Like I said. It defies description with the words that I posses in my
vocabulary. Absolutely speechless. Anything that he touches describes
description. No stone unturned. No detail left to chance. Every mechanical
detail attended to.
Master of his trade doesn't even touch his abilities. I served an
apprenticeship in Power Mechanics and Small Engine Repair. I still hold a
journeyman's certification. I have seen a whole bunch of very, very skilled
technicians in my lifetime, and he is got to be in the very best of the
very best in his trade. Artist can't describe it. His work serves as an
inspiration to all of us to strive to do our very best work, every time
out.

Funny you should mention moving the steering wheel, in my original design I had the front floor moving over 8.5". I couldn't figure a great way to
conceal and seal the gap and I was concerned with the integrity of the seat on a movable platform. After changing the column location, we had the
seats narrowed 2" and both promised ourselves we wouldn't bulk up enough not fit comfortably. It's worked.
There were quite a few details that were left off the video, too much 'gear head' stuff I guess .

In the early days of such things (around 2000-2004) I did live stream a complete restoration of a car. It was video only with no sound. It was always amazing to me when I would be doing some mundane task like chasing threads or rewrapping wiring harnesses and I’d notice there were like 50 people watching me. One person’s boring task is another person’s entertainment, so with how easy it is today to live stream, why not give it a shot?

I did get the differential all together today but the axles are 12 weeks out-ouch. With the holidays fast approaching I'm afraid things are going slow
a bit. Always spend time with the family and the closest ones are in Las Vegas, 600 miles from here. After Christmas there's Quartzsite so like I
said, things will have to slow down I'm afraid

Thank you Douglas, I certainly appreciate your post. It seems the whole GMC comunity are really friends even if we haven't officially met.
This project is quite an under taking and keeping motivated can sometimes be a challange. Life can sometimes have its way in affairs. Receiving
feedback and knowing others are following along really helps. I understand there is a wide range of skill sets here, some more into the actual 'nut
and bolts' than others but I really appreciate it when the real gear heads join in.
Thank you again and I hope that one day we'll meet in person.

Hal, you bring up an interesting point. A few questions:

Have you ever had a project worth doing where you haven't made mistakes?
Do you learn more from the mistakes or from something that works the first time?
Is it possible to have projects or phases of a project work the first time without having a whole lot of learning experiences before that?

Mistakes are what makes us who we are. They are are what experience is built on.

I guess what I'm saying, Hal, is what with your capabilities and experience you must've made a _lot_ of mistakes along the way. Probably more than
most because you're such an ambitious guy.

I'm not trying to convince you to really live stream your build, but if you did I'll be stocking up on my supply of Orville Redenbacher.
