I can't keep patching the repairs made by a PO on my 6K Onan carburetor. I know these are made of Unobtainium, but maybe someone has an old one
lying around. If you do and you're willing to part with it then please PM me.

What kind of patching was done?
If he body is good a rebuild kit should fix any problems.
pretty simple carb.

I have rebuilt many carburetors throughout the years, so that is not the issue. When my Onan started running way too rich, I ordered a rebuild kit
from Jim K. I found several issues with my carb when I removed it, including several patch areas of epoxy on the body (?), a nozzle boss that looked
like it had seen better days, a ground off idle screw, a bent float, etc. I have a NOS Walbro LMB carb, that I cannibalised to get a new float. The
NOS carb did not have the same jetting etc, that the Onan employs so I could not use that carb. I put in a new idle screw and the repair kit,
installed the carb back onto the Onan and it started and ran, but it is still too rich and cannot be adjusted at the idle screw. The power screw
adjusts great. The Onan puts out the correct voltage and frequency at load and no load. The idle smooths out a little whenever the filter is
removed (new filter) and the carbon is removed from the new spark plugs.

I believe there is internal damage in my carb and it cannot be rebuilt. If I can buy a used carb from someone at a reasonable price I may be able to
rebuild and use it or use it as a core for a Jim K unit.

I have a rebuilt one which you can have; unfortunately it is in Australia and I don't get back until December 13th.

Thanks for the generous offer which I gladly accept. If something else should come up between now and the time you get home, I'll let you know.
I'll gladly compensate you for the time, expense, and trouble. These things are like hen's teeth.

Since you're traveling I assume you're feeling better. This time last year I was recovering from torn glute muscles and now, the wife is recovering
from injury to her left leg, so now I'm taking care of her. We were worried because she had both hips replaced twenty years ago. None of this stuff
happens during the winter when we're mostly dormant. At least I got most of the stuff done this year on the GMC that I wanted to accomplish last
year, just the Onan slowing me down. So...............havahappy.

OK, I found a NOS carburetor on eBay for $50. I installed it today, hit the start switch and the gen cranked but did not start. Did a quick check
and did not have a spark, it was my 41 year old coil. Luckily I had ordered one from Jim K last month for a spare and installed it. This time the
engine fired right up with my new carb not even needing adjustment. Sometimes things just work out.

Rob, I really do appreciate your offer, but I don't need one now, so you get to keep your spare. The next time you get back over to East Tennessee
give me a call and I'll gladly give you a hand with whatever you're working on.

I got the carb that fits the 6K generator. He thought it went on a go-cart engine. I also got a used one for more money from another eBay source
that I will rebuild and maintain as a spare. I also managed to get several floats for the Walbro LMB carbs. :d
