Need Advice On Insurance Claim! 1976 Eleganza II

As some of you already know, I hit a horse with my 1973 GMC Eleganza II
Motorhome after owning it for only 1-1/2 days. I have been informed by the
horse owners insurance adjuster that the book value of the Motorhome in the
NADA book is only about $15,000. The problem is that I paid $19,500 1-1/2
days before I hit the neighbor's horse. The Insurance Company wants to short
me almost $5000.

I tried to explain to the adjuster that the Motor home is:
1. One owner
2. Only 63,000 miles
3. Looks like new inside
4. That this Motorhome has a following that drives the value up.

I am out of ideas - what should I tell the Insurance adjuster? How do I
convince him that he should either repair the Motorhome or make me whole by
covering the cost I incurred in the 1-1/2 days that I had the Motorhome?

I am getting desperate and would really appreciate some help.

What is the residual value of the coach after they give you the $15,000?
Take the money and pay them the residual value for the coach. As the owner
I beleive you have first chance at buying it.

It is better to be very patient and be prepared to hold out for awhile when
working with insurance companies.

Most people can't or don't wait very long for whatever reason. Adjusters
know this so they initially throw a few low offers to see if you will go for
it. If an adjuster senses you are in a hurry to settle, the deal never
seems to be as good.

The fact that you are dealing with the horse owner's adjuster means they
admit it is their responsibility so you are in a good position to eventually
receive a fair settlement.

If it were me I would let the adjuster know I was disappointed the proper
amount was not offered and that I was prepared to wait until it was offered.
I would also show him the paper work proving what was paid. I would keep my
communications with him open, honest, always calm and never get upset or be
threatening. I would tell him the value in this instance was established by
what I paid, not what the NADA book says. For the next 120 days I would
repeat this to him until he thought I sounded like a broken record. If
nothing had happened after about 120 days, I would see a good attorney.

I once worked with 30 people who lost their vehicles in a flash flood. It
was interesting to observe those who settled first received the poorest
settlements. The last two guys to settle had paid cash for their cars, had
other transportation available and took their time to settle. They made out
like bandits.

Tom, I came across some good insurance aticles regarding getting the value
(true value) through insurance. Print these articles from gmcmotorhome.com
and present them to your adjuster.

Why should there be a problem they are not totaling the coach. Certified
repair facility can inspect it and certify that it is roadworthy.

Please don't waste your time with poor quality speakers after all that. I
just put an eclipse system in dash AM/FM cas + 12 CD changer; a waste of
time for poor speakers. The system can't be better than the speakers. You
can be in business for around $200 for speakers
