I would suggest you get one of these from JimK:

They make checking the trans fluid level MUCH easier.

I will be installing the transmission dipstick to the front hatch as rob showed above. Box just showed up today, but the weather is still not to
the point i want to do any work on the gmc. So if not in a hurry I will have mine as extra in a month.
