"I also installed the Napa temp sending unit, the gauge now gets pegged
shortly after I crank the engine up? Have to figure that one out yet."

Chris,

This wouldn't be the first NAPA part that didn't work right out of the box.
So if you didn't change anything else and your connections are tight and the
sending unit "body" is grounded to the engine block, try a new sending unit
before you re-wire your instrument cluster.
P.S I'm not bashing NAPA, we use some of their stuff at the shop and are
happy with them 80% of the time.

Netters, When I first discovered this GMC resource (Archives) I made
extensives list of replacement parts and helpful info. When I discovered I
had an original Temp sending unit I promptly replaced it with the NAPA
recomended unit and it registered engine temperature over halfway on the
gage within a very few minutes of startup. I took it back to NAPA and
bought a Wagner from Autozone; it worked as expected. On my first trip to
NAPA I also bought replacement wiper blades-they too didn't work. CarQuest
had the proper blades. When these things happened to me on the very first
try with cut in stone GMC knowledge I was disapointed and a bit bewildered.
I soon realized it was NAPA that was the problem, not the net. Thought you
might want to know my experience. Dave, 76PB, CA

so tell me the correct numbers
