consider this modification to be a week end project, once you have all the
Components

1. Remove fan shroud, fan/fan clutch, water pump and crank shaft v-belt
pulley, all V-belts including A/C.
2. Remove power steering pump and all power steering brackets.
3. Go to Auto zone or others and rent the power steering pulley
remove/install kit.
4. Drill a 1/2" hole in the bracket power steering for the Idler pulley.
5. Reinstall power steering pump bracket with new pump, pulley and new
Idler pulley
6. Install new alternator pulley.
7. Install Modified crank and water pump pulley.
8. Confirm all pulley are in line with strait edge (Power steering and
alternator must will be most difficult to align)
9. install 6 rib X 57.5" serpentine belt.
10. Tighten Serpentine belt with alternator take-up.
11. Start engine and confirm alignment and tension.
12. Reinstall and tension AC V-belt.

Living on a waterfront is not a matter of life or death. Its more
important than that.

Also, it provides better power transmission on the alternator with (as you
say) less belt tension.

I have a question. It seems to me that "crank pulley serpentine" and "water pulley serpentine" need to be equally matched to "crank pulley v-belt"
and "water pump pulley v-belt" so that the crank pulleys do not try to drive the water pump pulleys at different speeds... if you get my drift. So the
question is, "How do you match them when new so that they don't change when worn? I am wondering if there will be belt squeal?

I gather you do some machining work on the crank and water pump pulleys you ask us to send you. What is the approximate turnaround time (I ask
because this immobilizes the coach - making it more appropriate as a winter project)
Thanks

DAVID SCHAFER: THE PULLEY RINGS THAT I REMOVE AND THE PULLEY RINGS THAT
I REPLACE ARE THE SAME DIAMETER CRANK 7.8" WATER PUMP 5.3"
I REGRET AT THIS POINT I CANNOT DO A 403
PULLEY SYSTEM, THE PULLEYS ARE THE SAME DIAMETER BUT THE CONSTRUCTION DOES
NOT SUPPORT MY PRODUCTION SEQUENCE.

Gordon Gibson: DON'T WORRY BE HAPPY! YOU REMOVE YOUR PULLEYS AND SHIP TO
ME. I RECEIVE AND INSPECT. IF USABLE, I SHIP NEXT DAY PARCEL POST A SET
THAT ARE IN MY INVENTORY. I DO TWO SETS PER MONTH.

Well, I couldn't get a pic of the idler on the 350 diesel as the car is covered with a protective layer of junk and I did not have time to relocate
the stuff to open the hood. Life gets in the way...when I get a pic I'll add it to the GMC photo site.

Tom:
I have just returned from a 3 week Vacation. What pulleys do you want from the project?
