If we're going to preserve the breed we're going to need a way for potential owners to locate their dream coach. Ebay is a first thought for many. Craigslist can be, well, cumbersome. So I've put a public front-end on my own search tool. The links below all lead directly to the same section of a web page that will launch the search by individual state. I'm just showing three here to give GMCnet examples of the url structure that you might use to send a friend a link.

http://gmcMotorHomesForSale.com/#florida

http://gmcmotorhomesforsale.com/#California

http://gmcMotorHomesForSale.com/#usa

Note that some states are missing? Only states that have ads under 31 days old (and shouldn't have expired on CL) will be shown.

Give it a try. It's admittedly rough around the edges. Any advice on making it easier to use will certainly be appreciated.

Outstanding effort! I wish this had been around when I was looking for a coach. Heck, I just found a bunch of "good deal coaches" that I would have probably been interested in (and several of those had links to owner-deleted craigslist ads, so maybe - just maybe - the GMC market is starting to pick up).

I really like the site. I'm curious as to why the listings only last a month when some are still actively for sale. Maybe there should be a way to store the contact data.

Of course, most of the "for sale" sites have listings that are old, old. One has a coach for sale - reason for selling is that the couple is expecting their "first baby". That one has been up for 3 years. Maybe they are elephants.

Good job. I enjoy the site.

I'll address that first, Stick. Craigslist can be touchy, we've seen plenty of (much larger) services banned from them. I figure that the most sensitive data is the personal/contact information so I purposely edit it and require those interested to click through to CL. Since I'm archiving these pages to help build a historical record of price & availability trends, I wouldn't want to keep someone's cell phone number out on the web for years.

>I really like the site.

Thanks! I hope it helps those 50-somethings find a nice coach.

>I'm curious as to why the listings only last a month when some are still actively for sale.

Part of that is due to the program I'm using, but Craigslist automatically expires the listing after 45 days anyway. Realistically, though, the problem I'm having is with, shall we say, over-zealous relisting ...I see more than a few coaches posted very frequently or -more often- to cities over 1000 miles away from the coach's actual location.

I've been following an ad on the Seattle's Craislist for a couple of days now. Did a search with the words "GMC" and "motorhome". It was posted on Feb 4th. Why doesn't it show up on a Washington List?

I've been working on the site quite a bit, perhaps I lost that one it the process. It's in there now.

That looks like Don Wheatly's coach that has been for sale for ever & was originally listed for $30,000 or $35,000.
Norm, always looking.

And Sioux City

>Don Wheatly's coach

Yeah, that's it, Norm. The newer ad over in Seattle CL still has the Alaskan Motors contact info.

That one would be worth checking out as a possible ready-to-roll unit ....except I can't get past the flesh-colored paint job.

That said, I see this as a prime example of a (probably) nice coach that a family on a budget could start traveling in.

>originally listed for $

I didn't start tracking the coaches early enough to pick up that history. I believe it's been steady at 15.5k since Nov or Dec '12.

I'm checking it out tomorrow. Wish I has an expert with me. He's asking 15K which I feel is a bit high. Bryan Wheat sent me 33 pictures. I see some rust on the bumper bolts. A bit concerned at some paint or fiberglass issues at the beltline. Guess I could snag a GMC picture account and post up the pictures he sent me.
