Not sure what I have posted here on the subject. couple sundays ago, driving down the freeway things all is good, the coach started loosing some
speed and pressing on the gas a little it kept dropping down. I noticed some smoke behind, so I shut off the engine and coasted to a stop.

I found oil on the front driver side of the engine, and the final drive was coated. everything else looked OK, so I opened up the hatch and started
the engine:

Luckily it was Sunday on our way home, only 8 miles to go. I sent the wife and kids away in the towd and waiting an hour for the tow truck to come
and give me a ride home.

my friend came over and it was pretty much verified that it was internal and the engine had to come out. Last Saturday, some friends came to help,
and had the engine, final drive and tranny out of the coach. The transmission made it way to the rebuilder this morning.

Anyway, today I pulled off the oil pan, and found my issue. #6 piston seems to have a good hole and beat to hell. The spark plug is busted, and
looks like the push rod is falling off the lifter. I also pulled that valve cover and noticed the prior mechanic had left the spark plug organizer
inside the valve cover.

Time to start cleaning the garage and parts. Have some work to do the next few weeks.

In the old parlance, you lunched the mill. I'd have a word with the rebuilder.

Jon,

The story and pictures were good, but you left out the picture of the head with the broken valve.

Did you find the remains of the valve head in the oil pan?

The good news is that it probably did not circulate any steel. (Open to oil pump to know.)
It probably circulate lots of aluminum. If so you may be able to save the block, the crank and the other head.

Keep us in the loop.

I am going to have my souvenir piston with me at Amana.

That was just a quick check over last night. I pulled the engine, tranny, and final drive out of the coach on Saturday. Transmission is out to a
rebuilder, and I am building up part stockpile in my spare time.

Last night I had an hour, and I am curious as to what the issue really is, so I went out and pulled off the oil pan to take a look, seen the chunks in
the oil pan and investigated that further to find the hole in #6. I need to step back and get some cleaning done in the garage to get my workspace
done, and I will eventually investigate this further, I can take my inspection camera and get some photos of the valves. not sure if I will end up
bothering with pulling the head or not to get a look. This Engine is getting sent back as a core, as I went with an S&J engine, and hopefully they
are starting to build that up today.
