Geez, I promised myself I'd stay out of this one, but I worry about the
newbie / lurkers.

I believe the original question as asked by the GizmoMeister was simply;
"Does one use goop and a gasket, or goop alone to seal the Ragusa pan?"
(ya gotta love a good technical term like goop) Other Jim reported
correctly that Caspro says "No gasket necessary". They supply a sealant;
I presume, goop. Tom said gotta have a gasket, but subsequently he said
RTV is a gasket, just another kind of gasket. Please pardon my
ignorance; isn't RTV actually goop? Shakespeare himself couldn't author
a thread this convoluted!

BTW, if any lurkers think this board has bickering, you should check out
rec.outdoor.rv-travel , right Toby? Heck, we even got flamers on the
bimmer.org board! I hope everybody will continue to post. Dave G is
right when he said "With its few foibles the Net is still the best thing
that ever happened to a GMC owner.."

Descending from soapbox... what is a soapbox anyhow? ;^)

Tim,

Don't get me started . But it appears to be the same
in all the "newsgroups" where people have either strong
opinions or personality/character attributes that allow or
permit them to drive a rational discussion of fact and
experience into a deteriorating personal attack. At least
no one on this mailing list has threatened someone's job
for expressing themself.

Be that as it may, I sure wish I could make it to Gilbert's
parking lot for your mini-rally. Just not possible this time.
My wife is music director and choreographer for a
production of "Guys and Dolls" (for which I am also sound
engineer), I've got four CD projects to roll out before the
middle of June, and this is my busiest time at work (just
starting a new warranty reporting database project). So
maybe another time. Would love to chat with you about
good times in Milford!

Later!

I installed my Ragusa pan myself several years ago (believe it or not!)
and I used goop.I think it was either red or blue and last week Bounds
dropped the pan to chnage the filter and replaced it with something but I
don't know what. It worked for several years and I probably followed the
instructions that came with the pan 'cause I am certain I wouldn't have
made this up. Goop, that is.

More importantly, for those younger netters a soap box is what they used
to pack soap in!
