To all,

I attended my 1st GMC rally over the weekend in the Ft Collins/ Loveland
Colorado area which was hosted by Mike & Carol Mayo and I might add are very
gracious and fun GMCers. Mike and Carol live on a beautiful lakefront farm
at Berthoud Co and have the Rocky's in veiw just to the west of them whcih
made a great setting for the rally that about 35 GMC coaches of all
verieties attended. I am not an owner or member as of yet but am trying to
educate myself on what I need to know about GMC coaches before I plunk down
several thousand $$$ for the coache of my dreams. I flew in from Sheridan
Wy early saturday arrived just in time to attend the technical session that
set the pace for many meetings to come (thanks Gary for your lead).
Different items of maintenance were discussed along with a couple of new
items shown. A new type screen door using velcro was shown by Norm Kash's
wife (sorry about the spelling but can't remember). Also of special
interest was a new Bogie pin designed to be changed from the outside after
installation. This excellent design was engineered and shown for further
discussion by Robert Slade. Many owners invited me to see there coaches
and shared there inginuity and unique modifications. I was nothing short of
amazed by what you can do with the GMC and the inginuity of the group. Mike
our host showed us his port fuel injection system which was adapted from a
ford and he says gives nothing less than the most excellent results not only
in power but no detination worries anymore. Mike Pippin took a new GMC
pickup grill and square headlights fit them into a newly designed fiberglass
front that rapped arround the sides just above the fiberglass covered front
bumper and below the hood doors that gave his Birchaven a look of the 21st
century. BTW this new front grill design will be available to all GMCers
who want a new coach look up front. I spoke with many old GMCers and some
of the original organizers of the mountainairers. I can't thank this gruop
enough for the knowlege and hospitality that they shared with me about the
GMC. Thankyou Jim Anstett for inviting me as a guest and staying up past
your bedtime and mine to help feed me with information, sharing many of your
inventions & ideas that have helped so many (also thanks for the lemonaide).
Many thanks to Tim, Steve, Roberto, Norm, Rolley, Ray, Gary, Jerry, Bob,
Lloyd, & the many others whoose names I can't remember for showing me your
coaches. I look forward to becoming one of you with my own GMC someday
soon. If any of you other GMCers have an opportunity to attend a rally
with the mountainairers' it is just that, an opportunity. BTW if you are
in the area and need a shop for your GMC Ray Curtis I undrstand is the local
GMC expert at Eaton, CO.
Thanks again Mike and Carol.
