Has anyone ever seen this &/or used it? Looks like it could be useful. Found it while researching highways and elevation grades for my up-coming run
down into Oregon. https://www.mountaindirectory.com/coverage-area-west/

I am thinking I will give it a shot. It is downloadable onto the iPad so would be useful in the areas with no cell service.

Deb,

They are very useful.
We live in Michigan, no real grades for several hundred miles. But we carry both East and West in the coaches library.

What you have to do to use them, is plan a route and then go look at the Mountain Directory and see if that is something you really want to do.

Why don't I just leave them home where I do most of the planning?
Because I have yet to have an excursion plan stay on line more than three days.

Back in my "busnut" days, we carried those and they are very helpful.

Larry, Matt - Thanks. I have downloaded both East & West. Nice to have them on the iPad rather than hard copy.
Would be nice to have a Canadian equivalent. We have some "interesting" grades here in BC & Alberta. Of course, now I know about some of them,
having hit a lot of the big ones along the Crowsnest Highway on the way home from my summer run back east.

Looks like there is only one major spot of concern on this trip to Joseph. That's encouraging. Of course, I haven't decided what route, or how long
I will take to return home. Might extend it a bit since it's the last run of the season. The maps could come in handy.

How about Cache Creek to Lillooet?!? I did that in my GMC 4 or 5 years ago and I won't do it again!

It was a few days after losing a front brake flex line near the Coquihalla... An interesting trip.

Sounds like "fun" 8o Haven't hit that stretch yet. So far, I have only travelled east. Seems to me last summer that stretch was closed off or
seriously detoured for much of the season due to construction (rockslides) or fires. Making it likely even worse! Maybe next year :)

Dwayne Jacobson took us over the northern route to Whistler. 23 miles of
18%, yes, that is EIGHTEEN PERCENT grades. Low gear, foot to the tie rods,
lots of curves, then steep downhills. All of the brakes were smoking.
Haven't seen anything in the USA that compares to that. Cabbage Hill, near
Pendleton, Oregon is only 6 - 7%. That is on 84, on the way to LaGrande.

OMG I had enough fun doing the Kootenay Pass at 20 km of 8% grade. I think I will pass on the 99 to Whistler! I don't need that much excitement in
my life. I will live vicariously through your recounting of the tale ;)

Yep - that's the place!

The warning signs on the highway got larger and Larger and LARGER as you descended the hill.

I met Dwayne a couple of times before he passed away and had been looking forward to getting to know him. I was really trying to figure out how we could join the Alaska Rally in 2016...

Yes, he was best man at my wedding, and my brother from another mother.
They went with us on our honeymoon to Cabo and treated us to their condo
for a wedding present. Sure miss him, a lot. He was a special guy.
