I notice there is a track in North Carolina nearly 2 miles long as well as
the Utah and California salt flats.

Someone suggested the Land Speed Record should be set by a stock GMCMH.

The "stripped model" available for purchase from the factory when new should
qualify as "showroom stock."

The parts book lists options that were available when you ordered a new
GMCMH from the factory.

If optional equipment is removed, weight is reduced, aerodynamics are
improved, and such a GMCMH ought to qualify as "showroom stock".

Some of the optional items were:

1. All air conditioning units, both GM dash and the rooftop units
2. Roof vents except for the front and bath vents
3. Roof pod
4. Spare tire and carrier
5. Overhead cabinets except those in the galley
6. 120v generator set
7. Roof carrier and ladder
8. Fuel vapor emission controls
9. A small light weight house battery
10. I did not find awnings listed. Were they added by the dealer ?
11. Mirrors were called "foldaways" and standard equipment. Since the
factory called them foldaways maybe they can be folded away during the speed
trials so they have less wind resistance.

It would seem a well tuned, stock engine, "showroom stock" GMCMH, should run
awful close to, if not over the 100 mph mark.
