Moog K5266 Cam Adjusters fail at WSM torque spec.

I checked our current inventory and can see they are the correct ones.
I have had in the past some undersized bolts and washers that were
substandard so we returned under warrenty.
By doing this the Factory Reps see the problem and give the factory fedback.
I also sent an email to our rep at Moog (Federal-Mogul) re. the issue.
This morning I was on the phone with Jim Harriston National Sales Mgr. on
the DougThorly Header Heat tube. California requires them, and they were
not including them and we had to advie them as to what size,etc

Short sort of humor....
Many moons long gone, I was at one on many IFI (International Fastener Institiute), or ASTM Fastener Committee things. There was a fellow (so typical
at such things) that sat quietly until he had to improve or correct something the speaker said.

We were all engaged in talk about substandard "Pacific Rim" fasteners coming into the country and the speaker's lab had been called to test some of
these for quality. He then went on to remark that a bunch samples supplied did not meet the required 25KSI for grade 2. At this, the quiet guy
looked up and asked,"Were they made of metal?"

I had already put down my coffee....

I can tell you that at our shop, when new parts come in , I demand to see
them as there are times, they are not the same as before.
When that happens, you know what I do.
I review the error and see that it does not happen again by implmenting
some step on our or their side.
All this consume my prime time, and eve eat into my Porn time.

GMC 2000

There is absolutely noting wrong with the OEM camber adjusting bolts, they can be torqued to the spec of 90 ft lb as noted in MM X-7525 without any
problems. The key is as JimH noted NO LUBE! The nuts are "tall."

Good morning Rob. I believe the OEM bolts are also hardened and fine thread along with tall nuts where the ones I had issues with were not.

A friend has a truck that these are supposed to fit, and the ones on that truck were larger than the GMC adjusters so I cancelled that order. I
subsequently ordered a set (one side) from DJ Eberhard. He provides stock used cams, new machined bolts, lock washers and (I think) tall nuts. A local
welding shop sells grade 8 fasteners and has a 1/2" spacer that will fit under the head of the bolt and not interfere with adjustment. The spacer
brings the bolt head out so that a wrench can land fully on the flats. They should arrive tomorrow and if all's well they're going in.

I believe Alex does something similar. If the used cam stock doesn't dry up, this seems like the way to go for those that have the Moog and want to
change them out. Do you know what would be involved in making new cams that match the factory ones? I assume the factory ones were forged.

The AC Delco is identical to Moog.
Need to modify and replace bolt.
