Thought I might begin using Mobil 1 synthetic oil in my 74 GMC and Onan 6000
Generator, but I am now confused after my wife asked for Mobil 1 to be put
into her Venture van. The Chevy dealer said it was a bad idea to use Mobil
1, as it will make the seals leak and did not recommend it to be put into
any of their cars. Has anyone had experience using Mobil 1? Any seal
leaking problems?

Russ,
I changed out the oil in my Chevy S-10 at 33,000 to Mobil 1. Initially, the
oil pressure was lower than when using dino oils in the past. After putting
a trip, bout 800 miles, the pressure is back up to where it was previously
and stays there. Where I could not get all the way to Nashville from home
without filling up with gas before, I now can make that trip with ease on a
tank. Haven't really measured the mileage but it has definitely improved
somewhat in my experience. I changed mainly because most of my trips are
short, in town ones. Now, with 3000 miles on it, it has used no oil, didn't
before with dino either. No problems with leakage or any other known
problems with it. Also use the Mobil 1 oil filter and glad it's not just
another filter made by Fram.{:>)

That's what I did.

NOW, there's a car! I remember the ones in the late 50s as a plumber's
nightmare.
