I just added my two cents worth. Interesting to see their response.
I own a 1976 GMC Motorhome and belong to various clubs which support the
restoration and use of this fine coach. At our technical seminars held in
various parts of the country, we encourage and recommend the use of Mobil
synthetic products in final drives, engines and bearings. We believe that
exclusive use of these products will prolong and enhance the performance of
our vehicles. The fact that a very high percentage of our members use Mobil
products attests to its reputation and our commitment to its use. This use
of course extends to our other vehicles. In addition our visibility in the
Recreational Coach arena gives us the opportunity to recommend the use of
Mobil 1 products to other non-GMC coach owners.
It has now come to our attention that there is a disparity in pricing of
Mobil 1 products in various parts of the company. Yesterday in Oregon,
Target, Autozone and Walmart stores were selling Mobil 1 motor oil for $2.39
a quart (their regular price) while here in new York it is $4.03. I
question the sanity for such a large difference in price. Many of our
members have had other members ship them Mobil 1 from Oregon. I find this
practice unacceptable and unnecessary.
Our club has members in every state and we are in daily contact with each
other via the internet. This pricing disparity is causing us serious concern
as all members do not have equal access to your fine products at a
competitive price.
I have a solution which may prove beneficial to us both. Would it be
possible if all of our members had Mobil credit cards to purchase Mobil 1
products at the same prices nation wide? Mobil 1 for instance would be
available for $2.39/quart and so on. We would of course understand that we
would have to obtain a Mobil credit card to use this option. The price
could be set for some period of time (say 1 year at a time) so it would not
be unnecessarily cumbersome to your company. If this is not acceptable is
their an alternative solution?
Your response will be appreciated.
