Dear Netters,

This is a question from newbie. The PO of my coach put on two newer
D ranged tire on front wheels. I am thinking about buying 4 new E ranged tire
and move those D tire to the back. Is there any problem to have mixed D and E
tires on the tandem wheel?

Thanks.

James,
This opens a whole can of worms when it comes to tires. I personally
wouldn't have anything but E range tires on my coach. Some feel that
they can get buy with the D range. If I absolutely had to run the D
tires I would put them on the back set of bogies. By all means get them
off the front of the coach. The choice is yours to make.

James

You should really have E rated tires all of the way around. If it is a matter of
finances, move the 2 D's to the back and put the 4 new E's to the middle and front
axles. It seems as though the middle axle puts a loot ofl stress on the tires in
turns. Better yet, move the D to the spare and put 6 Goodyear 159's on the
ground. The all steel-belted E rated tires is what you should have down. GMC
recalled the D's a long time ago in favor of the E's.

Hi James,
Based, on my E/D mix when I got my coach, I would never do it. Even if I was
stuck and they were the only tires available, I believe I would first see
about shipping E tires to location? But you know how that goes in a
crunch!!!
The P.O. got the D rated tires after a blowout, Ds were the only ones
available, So she got two and put on the front bogie per recommendation.
Anyway when I got the coach there was only about 1000mi. on these tires, And
they looked brand new no cracks, forgot brand/date. On my first trip I aired
tires to stated 65# cold, now I was traveling in the 70-75 range, With a top
of about 90 just before I had my tire separation on the Lt. Ft. bogie, Lots
of noise, Lots of smoke, Glad my seat is brown/orange in color. 8-)> Never
want that to happen again!!! Don't know if it was because of the D tires?
But the 4 E Bridgestones which was 2.5 years older than the Ds are still on
the coach and doing just fine, With alittle SLOWER help from me.
