Two years ago when we stopped in along our way, Jim Bounds recommended the
correct .008" thick 1/2 aluminum miniblinds and how the box should be done
to contain them. We had ours made to order at Home Depot.
The key to cleaning is to have a easily disassembled section at the top of
the box so the blinds can be easily slid out for cleaning. We covered our
box with our coach material, which is textured cloth. We had to add a slide
strip inside the box [out of sight] to easily slide the blinds up and down
as well have tilt them without sticking. Without the slide strip, some of
them would catch on our highly textured cloth, as the blinds held with a
pressure against the box, which also keeps them from rattling. They work
well, are easy to take out to clean, don't rattle and allow one to look out
without the sun coming into the coach. Really good while driving because
they can be set horizontal to see out as if they were not there and yet
prevent the direct high daytime sun from coming into the coach itself.
If you buy a name brand with a standard color, you can replace one if it
becomes damaged and the replacement will look just like the others.
Save yourself some learning curve time and contact Jim Bounds.
