Michelin vs Goodyear

In all of the froth of the tire discussion a few months ago, I was left
unsatisfied on one front. Is there a consensus as to which is a better
choice (money issues aside): Goodyear G159's or Michelin LTX's?

You are comparing apples to oranges. the Goodyear G159 equivalent Michelin
tire is the XPS rib all steel tire.

The LTX is not an all steel tire.

I believe our consensus (if that's possible) was this:

It is a matter of personal opinion tempered with availability of the desired
product and its selling price.

Also, the G-159 compares to the Michelin *XPS* Rib and various Bridgestones.

Did I hear someone say Bridgestone All Steel E Range??
This may come as a surprise to some but Alex showed me a blown G159 so
perhaps a rare occurrence, it appears they are also susceptible.

Not Exactly. There is no such thing as a blow out proof tire. Even if
a road hazard did not percipitate the failure, a small fraction of all
tires fail (even the best), but you have a much lower risk of failure
with some. On paper, the Goodyear G159 is one of the best tires money
can buy. It has 3 important specifications for durability. Its Load
range "E", all steel and its made in a sectional process, the most
sophisticated manufacturing process currently in use for light vehicle
tire manufacturing.
