Ted,
Isn't it great not to have to listen to those annoying things, like rattles,
knocks, pings, horns, etc? Wives, sometimes. {:>) Ignorance is bliss.

As you know, I am hearing impaired. Oh well, I took a hearing friend
for
the ride other day, I was driving between 55 to 60 mph on interstate
highway, My friend metioned that my coach was awful loud noise as the coach
was shaken. He said he can hear everything rattles, like cabients, windows,
and etc.
Are there any possible way I can do to reduce this problem or I have to
just accept it since it's old.

When I purchased my 73 Glacier 26 from a good friend in Calif. who had a
dealership which sold them new, has owned 10 or so and done most of the work
on them, he got under it and checked it over very well.

I drove it to Florida and then to upper Michigan. I pushed it down the
little hills in west Texas and New Mexico at 80 or so to get up the other
side withour lugging the engine. The door on the cabinet over the dinette
would hammer like hell. I thought tire balance.

When they were putting new wheel bearings in it at Cinnabar's they found two
bolts missing on a ball joint, one tight and one loose. After that was fixed
the cabinet door didn't dance anymore. If the steering or wheel had let
loose I would still be in orbit.

The little jiggling noise in all the cabinet doors can be silenced by small
glue on rubber pads where the black wood edging rubs on the bottom shelf
trim. Equal, powder tire balancer took the vibration out of my tires and
wheels.

My point is if the coach is noisy have someone who can diagnose the source
drive it. It could be a major mechanical failure giving you a little
warning.

I also find the bolts on the drive shafts tend to work loose. My friend
drove from Calif. to Ontario Canada and turned his motorhome around on the
grass here when one of his drive shafts came off. He swears he checked
tightness on the nuts before he left home but many were missing. My ball
joint nuts are double nutted now but they still get checked at least once a
year. Most of the experienced GMCers probably do this. When the wheel
bearings are repacked this year I'll have the control arms checked for
cracks.

Something to think about.
