Here is the most accurate method I have found for
checking total toe with a tape measure. No error due to:
- - tire bulges
- - errors in scribing centerlines
Just below the frame at the front of the tire mark the
approximate center of the tread (both tires) with a
pen to provide a nice sharp line that you can
measure from.
Mark the sidewall of the tires with chalk so that you
can find the pen mark after you move the coach.
Measure between the 2 pen marks.
Drive the coach straight ahead until the chalk marks
on the sidewall indicate that the pen marks are coming
close the the bottom of the frame (now at the back)
Measure between the 2 pen marks again.
The difference between the 2 dimmensions is the total toe.
