I'd be real cautious of that seller, with that super low price and only 9 feedbacks and all are from sellers not buyers. It sounds like another Viair
deal everybody jumped on earlier.

I have that kit and it works great but I got it from Toolopia and paid big bucks for it.

Hot Dam Dave,

There are only two things that stop me from jumping on that one:
The first is the fact that there is one that I can and have borrowed locally.
The second is the "Mastercool&" name used.

This sort of thing is common in knock-off products. When I was the aftermarket at McCord Gasket, I was part of a lawsuit when a headgasket failed.
When questioned I said that the failed part presented did not come from our plant. The plaintiff then produced the original box that not very clearly
said "NIcCord" in a type face that was a near match to our logo.

I am still tempted to go on this one.

Well, I did and you will all love a lot of the reason.
I know where there is an original. I believe I can get my hands on it (along with Mike's long enough to find out if it is a real, functional tool or
not.
I will sacrifice some tubing and then I will let the world know what I think.
What I decide may involve Ebay and Paypal because if this is a POS, I will probably not pay return shipping and get stuck for a re-stocking fee. I
feel this effort may have enough value to the community to be worth 1/3 of a tank of fuel. I have had occasion to bring the power of Ebay and Paypal
down on bad sellers before, and while I may not end up even on a Cash-Out-Of-Pocket account, I can have a real impact.

Watch this space.

When I have it in hand, I will get with you and we can compare.
I will say again, if you have much steel flare to do, even the 300$ set could be a good investment.

Are you going to make the Lunch on Saturday?

I've switched to using 37' flares, they are reusable, and you can almost make them with a rock and a stick.

Slightly more expensive, but single digit dollars.

I can buy a whole lot of 37' hardware for $400

Kieth,

45° flares are reusable too. Sometimes a 45°double flare used with a defective mating fitting will cause trouble, but the spring action of the
folded tube can be a real benefit. As an instrument fitter, it did a lot of 37° flares. Many in lines specified for 5K hydraulic.

If you are using 37° tooling, don't use any DOT brake fittings or you will have a bad time and you will not be able to take the fitting up to stop a
leak without damaging the mating surface. Now, if you get all the adapters and change everything to stainless with 37° flares. You can make it all
be real good, but don't get it inspected in NY, NJ, PA or MA, because when they see the non-SAE or DOT fittings, you are toast. Our race car was
great, but we had to cheat to get it registered in NY. (Story only if you buy the beer.)

I've done 3 cars with the flaring tool so far and hopefully, in about a month I'll be ready to do the brake lines on my '35 Ford, plus got others in
line so I am slowly getting my moneys worth.

This deal did not work out. I got a refund. "to good to be true". Not too disappointed. I wasn't too apprehensive either since I have confidence in
Pay Pal. Still watching for another on E-Bay.

Google "Eastwood" if you are looking for a good flaring tool for brake
lines and fuel lines. It takes a quality tool to perform double flares on
brake lines. If you are unsure of your skills in this arena, have an expert
do the flares for you. I do double flares often, and still occasionally
have trouble getting them leak free. Lots of variables here. Especially
near the master cylinder and the distribution valve. The new brass ones in
particular. Remember, "new" is only that, not necessarily good.

I use a pretty cheap flaring too and can make a leak free flare pretty reliably.

What I do;

*Use poly armor or the new copper lines, never the old crappy galvanized steel lines if you can help it, and never stainless. THOSE are hard to flare.

*Don't over crush the flare, so many people try and smash the hell out if the flare, but it needs to have some crush left for assembly!

*Start with a really clean square cut tube, a ragged or angled cut will make flaring very hard

*I file the ends square and clean

* lube everything, except the operator, lube them only after the flaring is done

*Remember Double flares are single use, if you get more out of them consider your self lucky

* I only use double flares if I have to, otherwise I use 37' AN Flares, they are so much easier to make and seal AND they are reusable!
