Master Cylinder

I purchased my master cylinder from NAPA a few years ago. I was told they did not
sell remanufactured units - unreliable. They would not even accept my old unit for
credit.

Looks like you've got to make a choice. Justin has a good point.
Let me throw this at ya'.....buy two rebuilts. You've got $100 + for
your pocket and if the first holds up, you've got an item for the flea
market at Forest City. If it doesn't, install the second and rebuilt
the first yourself. Then you know it would be done right ! The rebuild
wouldn't be any more difficult to do, or get parts for, than say your
basic Avanti

Justin,

There is no reason to buy a rebuilt master cylinder, it is locally
available in new. I can't think of the # off hand, it is a Wagner # and
most parts houses can supply it. Call & I'll give you the # tomorrow.

There are some items though that I do use rebuilds with. Water pumps, PS
pumps, AC compressors seem to be fine rebuilt. I insist on
remanufactured alternators and starters. Remans mean allparts internally
are new, not just bearings & seals. Of course, if it available in new I
would much prefer it.

I would hate to spend $150 for a master cylinder but I guess those dog
sled owners have to pay for feed and sled repair somehow up there in
Alaska! You just need to build up more
Karma before your next trip!

NAPA 39075
NAPA 47-2360
RAYBESTOS MK646
WAGNER F-79821

Are these the same as you have Jim?

Yes, the 39075 is the new unit I use, it is an exact fit.

I imagine that it would cost about the same as picking up a rebuilt one off
shelf, I could make a few phone calls if you are interested. If I were
you, I would contact a parts house locally and see if they could get it
built for you.
