Machine screws holding grill spin

On my stock grill where the "bolt" turned with the nut it
turned out to be a threaded rod into a metal insert that
was molded into the plastic grill.

If the "bolts" turn then they probably are not rusted
into the insert molded into the grill

I would keep on turning until it comes out.

If they are rusted into the insert and the insert is no
longer solidly molded into the grill then it is already broke.

If you choose to use threaded fasteners again then
once the grill has been removed the threaded rod
can be reinstalled or replaced with longer ones
should you choose to sandwich the screen on the
inside.
