Macerator vs stinky slinky on long term campsites

Ok,
It's been a year using my twist on macerator. I like it a lot, especially on single night stays.
QUESTION.... if camping at the same site for a week or two, why would anyone use the macerator vs the gravity fed 3 inch hose? With the macerator I'm
constantly turning on the pump after each shower. PITA....... with the 3 inch line I'm NOT constantly turning on a pump....... and whenever I get back
from a trip I always clean out my black water tank. I don't see the logic... what am I missing?
(((((BTW,,,,our poops are perfectly spherical in mass, shape and volume (German engineered)and always roll to the nearest exit. I just wanted to get
that out there because I knew someone would ask.))))))

my PO installed the macerator onto the end cap of the dump pipe it is mounted permanently behind the rear bumper. he also installed a separate switch
in the bathroom as well as one next to the pump under the bumper so i can turn on the macerator when in the bathroom or outside

You must have 2 tanks??

Normal dumping at a full hook up site should be keeping the valve closed until tank is filled up, then pull the handle. I do not see that much
different then me going out and hitting the switch. But if i had to mount a portable macerator as opposed to my permanantly mounted one, i would
hook up a slinky.

Leaving valve open and letting things drain can cAuse issues. The water mass gets those german engineered poops to flush away.

empty so the hose isn't as awful as it might be. I'll point out, most of us Americans produce turds with tapered ends so the hole doesn't slam shut.

Just hook your macerator up permanently with a Tee and then you can use either.
We never camp where there are sewer hookups, so we always use the macerator, but the slinky is always available if necessary.

The hose seems to make more sense if you are required to hook up the macerator everyday. The best advice I can offer is to not chew excessively. This
leaves a nice textured surface, especially with things like corn, to keep that old Slinky very clean.

We take navy showers and can almost make a week before flipping that
switch. We do not carry a stinky slinky......can be easily purchased in an
emergency. 11 years and counting....

I love to use the macerator as it is so easy to use and I'm gone while the
SOBs are still at it struggling with their large hoses.

So right you are John!
If the cap and bayonet of your dump line are still white, they are the Thetford parts and are not easily obtained.
So, if you are counting on a Van Winkle type Plan B, you best carry at least the mating bayonet part with you.

This is how we did our macerator.

So, as you can see we don't have a 3" dump. No major issues for 13 yrs now. When parked for more than 3-4 days, I pull the hose out of it's storage,
put a plug on the end of the hose and just lay it along the length of the coach on drivers side. Time to use it, just stick it in the sewer, and turn
on the pump. Two minutes and I'm done until next time. JWID
