Macerator Pump

One of my projects this spring will be to get a macerator pump put on. Been reading and viewing the different version of installations. I've also been
reviewing critics picks on types and brands of pumps. They generaly say that pumps below 200 bucks will need to be replaced every couple years. Also a
comment from reviewers that the Jabsco pump had some internal screws that would rust very quickly, within a year. Anyone have input on what to get?

I would recommend the Jabsco. It is a strong pump and the only problem I’ve had is long hair (ladies) getting wound around the impeller. I finely added an extra valve just in front of the pump and used a rubber connector to the pump so I could remove it quickly. It always seemed to stop just when I pumped out leaving a rally to go home. So, I bought a second pump so I didn’t have to take it apart right then. As to the bolts failing, after about 8 years the brass bolts started to corrode so I replaced them with stainless steel bolts in a Jabsco kit. They don’t rust since they weren’t steel and certainly not within a year.

I you search on the Internet you can find the Janesville for about $130, not $200.

I wrote an article for the GMCMI magazine about a year ago telling of replacing the brass bolts and how to put the valve and coupler in to make removal of the pump easy.

Tom,
It is very important to use the small nose unit and the reduced section.
there is no standard fittings, so I have one that Len Clark makes for us so
it pulls the last 1/4 of the tank before it pulls in air and starts
cavitating.
We can sell those component parts.
