Lug Nuts

Thanks to all the original GMCNetters for help and information all of
us newbee's really appreciate all the help we can get so that we also enjoy
our GMC's as much as you do.
Now for my question actually 2 questions. We will be putting on new shocks
in a short time is there a specified torque or just tighten as much as you
can. Next question are the Lug Nuts for original steel wheels a specialty
nut or will any lug nut do. What we would like to do is get a larger outside
diameter nut a 1 inch one rather than the 7/8 in. We bought a real nice
breaker bar for lug nuts will break loose up to 1,000# but can't use because
of small size lug nuts. And you need something like that to loosen up the
250# torque on nuts.

Yes Big Jim is Grey and Blue and we do belong to the Cascaders. Just joined
this spring. Nice group of people.

Hi all,
I'v'e been following the thread on oil on lug nuts. For years I have been
using Neversieze Compound on wheelstuds before replacing lugs,(habit left
over from my boat days) , I have even used Milk of Magnesia as some aircraft
mechanics have on bolts prone to freeze up. Should I be worried about
problems? Any comments?
