I have a '78 Transmode-to-Motorhome conversion coming to a close (yipeeeee)
and wanted to dressup my factory steel wheels. I had them lightly sand
blasted and painted with 'Aluminum' color. now I'm trying to find lug nut
covers to finish them off.

Ordered what I though would be the correct covers from Gateway (at $2.16
ea) only to find them TOO BIG! It seems that the lugnuts on my coach are
3/4 or 7/8 and the covers are 1 inch. They don't even come close. The
inside of the covers have nothing to keep them on and, in fact, have a
pressed indentation on two sides that appear to be the method for keeping
them on. Maybe these are the aftermarket ones Thomas Warner spoke about
getting when he order his wheels from Gateway??

Do you folks that have the Alcoas have larger lugnuts?? (Now, now, lets
keep this on the GMC!) Or are there other sizes of covers for smaller
lugnuts??

Thom

My OEM steel wheel lug nuts are 7/8", and the Alcoa's are slightly larger.
I did not pull the chrome cover off the Alcoa's, (held in place with a dab
of silicone) but they appear to be 1".

They are indeed the chinese lug covers that Gateway tried to palm off on me.

If you need different covers go to the nearest truck repair facility in your
area and they will have them in different sizes
