Heinz,
I agree. One of the things that turned me off the most about that SOB
breaking the record was that they had to strip it down. The GMC should
have no trouble breaking their record in almost stock form. On this end, I
really wouldn't even want to see a high dollar engine in it because then it
does not showcase what the GMC can really do for the normal GMCer. Maybe a
cam/intake/exhaust, but nothing a normal GMCer wouldn't have access to.
Maybe its a crazy idea, but might it be possible to do two GMCs? We could
keep one as stock as possible to get the record with first to show what the
average GMC can do. We could also have one modified to the hilt (no ACs,
as light as possible, performance engine, etc.) to get the record to keep
for a long time. It probably wouldn't be that difficult to do two since
any custom stuff (roll cage, etc) could just be duplicated easily for the
second one. Even the special tires/wheels could just be swapped from one
to the other before runs. The heavily modified one would seem to be a good
way to use the Transmode Marcus has offered for use and any other sponsor
products we could get.
I also agree with someone else who suggested we get a better idea of the
rules before we get any sponsors involved. There might be a lot more red
tape then we think. If we get the sponsors involved too early, they might
lose interest before/if we can make it happen.
Just some thoughts,
Zak
