Well, hello all, greetings from smoky (but maybe getting better) Oregon!

I have a very small leak from the valve stem of the LP tank valve on my
Birchaven. It's there when the valve is fully open so it is probably the
'top' seal if these things work like oxygen or argon bottles.

I don't really know as there is still a bit of gas in the tank but it
does not look like the valve can be repaired with a new packing - so
replacement looms when I bleed off the gas.

There was a similar thread about 8 years ago and a valve then cost about
$30. Now this one (with integral 312 psi overpressure relief) is $108 so
I want to be sure I am getting the right thing. Would a local RV parts
source have it? Seems like it should be a common part.

Is this the correct valve? https://www.ebay.com/itm/182951689490

Thanks in advance

Stu

There are repair kits for the valves. Check with your local propane dealer. If you need to remove the valve from the tank, borrow the correct tool
or have the dealer do it. Using the wrong tool will deform the brass valve body. Ask me how I know this.

I forgive them all, save those who hurt the dogs. They must answer to me in hell

Valves should be less then $50.

RV place should have one, or I have had to buy off amazon this summer because our local propane shop quit doing walk in.

Should be a common part. also like Johnny said, there are repair kits. I am not familiar with the birchhaven LP tanks to be of help to direct you
to the exact one.

this one fits other GMC's:
