Greetings all,

Finally got around to state inspection of the '78 Royale.....needs front
rotors,
lower ball joints, manifold gaskets and a lot of little stuff. I am
aware that Genes'
site covers a lot of these areas. Are the archives indexed? Any
particular insite
toward these tasks? One highly recommended truck front-end service
center
turned the work down flat....too much trouble they said.

Are the ball joints readily availiable? Any parts numbers out there?

Are the rotors stock Toronado? Any special year?

Are copper exhaust manifold gaskets the best? Records show the manifold
have been machined fairly recently.

Would the ball joint play contribute to the steering wander?

I now have the manuals and need to start reading.

Any recomendations for a good front end service center in the VA, MD
area?

Many thanks,

David Graves

the easy way to get parts is to call Cinnabar. they have it all and it all
fits.

Ken is the GMC Guy for your area for experienced service on the GMC. My
guess is that you do not belong to GMC international or local GMC clubs
in your region. Go to http://www.gmcmi.com/ and search under clubs
for your area. There are several active clubs in the VA and MD area.

Someone else will surely be able to help with detailed parts and sources
but the only recommendation I can make is to move to Florida! Doesn't
Maryland's bureaucracy have anything better to do than pick on our
beloved old classics?

Ken Frey serviced my coach for the PO for many years and from what I've seen
so far they really know what they are doing.
