Looking for ideas

So my efforts last year and this is to get the GMC mechanically ready for some longer trips. My plan is to test the waters a bit in Missouri here to make sure everything is working properly but if it looks good to use it on a longer trip. I do like the western states such as Colorado, New Mexico and Utah, Arizona areas. I guess my first stretch might be Colorado and New Mexico area since it’s fairly close to KC where I live. We like hiking, fishing and the mountain regions. Also any cool little towns would be great. Any places that would be cool to hop from one spot to the other with fairly short driving in the Colorado New Mexico area anyone could recommend?

I believe its 3:42. The transmission was done by Danny Dunn I understand. PO rebuilt engine and transmission.

Colorado Springs at 6000 elevation has plenty to offer. Garden of the Gods, Airforce Academy, Pike's Peak, and more. Estes Park at 7,500 elevation is the gateway to Rocky Mountain Park with tons of trails, you would need to have a car to go on top of Trail Ridge Road but. well worth the drive. Just a few of the wonderful places to go.

How about closer to home. Missouri (I live in Springfield). Arkansas. You would never be able to visit all the beautiful places. I am a fan of Nebraska, especially the Sandhill area. Floating the Niobrara (top 10 floating river). Ft Robinson. Days drive for you, all of the above.

Fort Robinson is a great choice with a lot of campsites with electric and water hook-ups with only one dump station. A lot of Indian and Calvery history, it was also a German POW camp during WWII. In the summer they have a playhouse that the student from Chadron College put on plays in the evenings.
