I agree when talking about transmission temperatures
it is important to note where transmission temps are
measured so that apples can be compared with apples.

I think however the information provided by the temps
from the line to the cooler can be as important as the
information provided by the temps provided by the line
returning from the cooler (or the pan for that matter).

Spikes in temperatures in the line to the cooler can
indicate that the life of the oil has been shortened.
It will also give the most rapid response and therefore
give maximum warning.

Having both output and return temperatures can provide
an indication how good a job the cooler is doing.

If over the course of a drive the pan temperatures continue
to rise then it could indicate that the cooler is being
overwhelmed for the conditions the coach is under.

Therefore measurements from all 3 sources could be very
useful as would information related to normal temperatures at
all 3 locations .

Just my .02
