We had a suspected problem on one of our travels (3,000 miles from home) and
contacted the local GMC club, who sent us to a local service place that
their members used. It was a real advantage to call, make a reservation and
then drive into a place that knew GMC's. No big thing for them, business as
usual. It turned out to be a simple adjustment of something that came
partially loose. They knew what they were doing, corrected the problem and
we were back on the road within a day. Wonderful feeling!
I think it would be even more helpful if you had to be towed into someplace.
Since I have an injured back, work that I used to do now has to be
contracted out. [More cell phone and credit card tool kit]. I am putting
together a listing of local people who I and others from my area have faith
in in doing work on a GMC. Naturally, if they are good, they are busy.
Steve Ferguson is the first GMC owner who has added his experience to the
list. I will keep the recommendations and date intact in the listing. I have
added their phone number and e-mail address, if they have one, for each
recommended service place.
If somebody calls me from the black list, I can give them service options of
potential good guys that have worked on GMC's. At least they will have
contacts and options if they have problems.
