To the dozen guys in my fan base,

I just completed and uploaded my illustration of Great Gadabout, which I
renamed DuQuoin.

http://www.gmcmhphotos.com/photos/showphoto.php?photo=4102

While I know everyone has his/her preferences regarding color and where the
stripes should go, this is a faithful image of the vehicle in a show scheme
developed by the GMC design studios for the GMC. All I did was put on alloy
wheels, a different spare tire cover and a new mirror and called it DuQuoin.

The original had Great Gadabout in large, block letters in the empty space
above the beltline and just forward of the rear window.

I'd be sorely tempted to use this scheme on a coach of my own except that
I'd wrap the stripes around the rear under the window instead or taking them
to the top. Either way, I think it's a great design that's strong without
looking like a big box fad.

Byron,

I can't wait to see it, but that link is bad. Takes me to a different album.

Yes, link has been pasted in this time.

(Must think before hitting send. Must read, too.)

Happens all the time. You're not the first and won't be the last.

Thanks.

By the way, that illustration, and the others like it, was created on a Mac.
Today is an odd day.

It is an odd, sad day. I'd like to think that Steve Jobs would have appreciated the engineering of the GMC Motorhome and the simplicity of its lines. A friend was filling up his car in Palo Alto some time ago and Steve Jobs pulled in next to him to fill his Mercedes. The thing that struck my friend is that this Mercedes had no adornments - no 3-pointed star, no badges of any kind. I'll bet he would have deleted the license plate if he could.

It doesn't matter if you are Mac or PC, all of our lives have been improved because he lived.

Somebody posted "iSad." That about sums it up for me.

Steve Jobs singlehandedly made all of Apple's competitors better, and it does not matter if we are on a Windows, Linux/Unix, or Macintosh platform computer. His innovations caused action and reaction.

Jobs will certainly be one of the most uinfluential people of the late 20th - early 21st century on anyone's list.  For better or for worse, he changed society as a whole.

Jobs' Ferarri had no license plate. He drove it to a meeting we had in a
hotel just east of SJC airport.

Minor correction is in order, Dolph. The Newton was a Scully development.
Jobs killed it within a couple of months after returning to Apple. I never
quite understood the rationale at the time because the next Newton (4th
iteration) was intended to have speech recognition. Here we are, 13 years
later and the new iPhone 4s will have the amazing ability that was in a
video we promoted heavily in 1996 in the "Knowledge Navigator".

Yes, Steve did appreciate the design of the GMC.

I sold a great majority of my Apple stock when it hit $80 and I thought I
was making off like a bandit. I sold another bunch at $140. I didn't feel
like a bandit but a smart investor. Now that it's still above $350 in spite
of the economy I wish I had those 600 shares to put with my 40 I still have.
But, selling shares at $140 got me into the GMC, finally, in 2007.
