Latest wisdom on the OEM compressor?

I have the quad bag system and all new lines and fittings but the orginal compressor looks like it has not been touched in a long time.

I'm not even sure if it works. It does come on but i aired up the bags with external air. One side leaked down after a while so i ran it up again and
closed the valves.

So today i was chasing a plumbing problem and ran into the dusty compressor.

Most of the articles i can find on it very old. IS there still a rebuild kit?

Is the OEM ocmpressor a good fit for the quad bag system?

Applied had rebuild kits, he may still have. Or buy a VaAir and forget about it.

Yeah that makes sense. Looks like the viair is a no brainer for the price

I rebuilt mine sometime in the last decade. It took about 1 hour not including removal and replacement. What you need to do is fix the leaks in the
system. Then the compressor seldom runs.

I rebuilt my original Dana compressor with the kit from Applied.
When I got mine apart the main issue I discovered was the old foam filters had degraded and got sucked into the cylinders creating a mess. Mine pumps
up much faster now, but is still pretty noisy.
If I wasn't such a OCD authenticity nut I would just get a new ViAir compressor, more efficient and quieter I am sure.

Isn't that kinda like putting up with a known defect or inferior accessory
just because the factory built it that way? Like the original equipment
final drive ratio. No other way to put it that I know of is, "It sucks".
And there are far better ratios for your coach. Still looks the same, just
performs a whole lot better.
