This is pretty important and should be spread out between as many car
enthusiasts as possible. Thanks Chuck

Subject: Latest Update
"As California goes, so goes the nation"?
Legislative information update.
California is going ahead with remote sensing. Senator Mountjoy's office
called me early April and told me about a bill (SB 1301 by Kelly). The
next hearing was to be on the 12th. Charlie Peters (CAPP) was there to
hear other bills and they thought they missed the bill. The bill was not
heard because there was no opposition to it. When Charlie was in Kelly's
office he asked to speak to someone about the bill, he was referred to
the lobbyist. Charlie wanted to speak to someone from the legislators
office and was told to come back another day.
The bill creates an operators license for the remote sensing equipment.
When Charlie and I were in the capitol last fall we spoke to the Pro Tem
staffer who is in charge of Inspection and Maintenance issues. As we
were discussing remote sensing, he mentioned "We know the technology is
not there yet, but that is where we are going".
