Let's get serious about this. If 1,000 of us put up $100 each we are
well on our way. I pledge $100 to the effort. I still think we should
tie longevity in with the speed.

Hooked up the toad today and hit the road at sixty five. She just
wanted to run, smoother than before. I am amazed at what lovely machines
they are. Next trip on Dec 27th.

I sent the e-mail to mondello tonight asking if he is interested. I think
his 1000HP 455 engine should do it. I know he is a fierce competitor of Gale
Banks who prepared the Chinook Consourse for the record.

Isn't it ironic! Here many are talking about road wander at 55 MPH and we
want to set the record at over 150MPH.

I will volunteer to research tires.

My plan would be to start with queries to Goodyear, Bridgestone and
Michelin., and also to check out what the NASCAR truck series runs on. I'm
not in the business so if anyone IS in the tire business, has suggestions or
has a more direct connection please chime in.

But first some questions:

How fast?
For how long?
Size to fit the 16" Alcoas?
What's the temperature on the salt flats in mid-August?
What category of tread design has been shown to be optimal for running at
high speed on the salt - something like a typical summer highway tread or do
we need something more aggressive?
