I just want to tell you all about the experience I had today as Emery Stora
came to Abq to help me with my EFI. He tested the vacuum, found out how much
pressure we had in the line, adjusted the timing and helped instal the caspro
know sensor. We worked well together, and after we set things up according the
the instrucitons, they didn't work as well. Emery then increased the pressure
to the EFI from the nominal 18psi, to some value above that... For specifics,
it was five to six revolutions more of the hex nut adjustment.. We were too
tired to ask what that was, but the coach idles great, runs like it should, and
that's that. Distributor set somewhere above 14 degrees, and there was no
knocking with the adj to the caspro sensor. Any technical questions will be
attempted, but Emery is far more knowlegeable about these than I... However, if
anyone has some suggestions as to why the instrument panel no longer lights,
send them on. As I was driving home, turned on the lights, and behold, no dash
instruments....If you fix one thing, it is a quarantee that something else will
go belly up... For emery, thanks... Hope everyone has a friend who will give a
hand... I know I have lots of you who continue to amaze me by helping... thanks

Al,
Most likely that you lost the ground to the dash area. Several members
have run additional ground wires to the dash area.

I got mine from NAPA, about $21.00 as I recall. Dont have the part number handy
but it is in the GMCMI parts interchange manual.

When I first got my 73 many moons ago, the dash lights were inop, but the
coach came with a complete set of wiring diagrams. Armed with my DVOM, it
only took about 10 minutes to determine that the light switch was the
culprit. I carried it to PEP Boys and asked for a headlight switch for a 73
GMC truck. The counter guy brought one out and it didn't match mine. He
carried mine back and returned with another box and said, "fits a 72" -
perfect match and it's still there to this day.

Well folks... found out why my rear and marker lights were going out... they
would work for a few seconds then go out. Found a neat problem. The screw
holding down one of the marker lights was going (or touching) the hot lead.
After a while, the resistance would be such that it would turn off the circuit
breaker... so now it is fixed... It was hard to find, but what a relief to find
and fix.
