I’m now able to measure the bitting on the keys and cut keys for our Motorhomes.

It’s not clear in the manual if the possible key way codes are different by year.

There are codes on your keys that relate to the key blank (example B50 and B45)

For example, my 1977 coach uses a C for the ignition and a H for the door.

Please look at your keys and email me the key way single letter code and the year of your coach to dolph

I’ll be doing this with the blanks I have this season, and look forward to being able to cover all possible key ways on our coaches.

You may ask how a dot com guy ends up doing keys.

Last fall, the locksmith we used for our rental apartments had a stroke, and we were not happy with our options. So I learned to re-pin lock cylinders and cut keys. The equipment we have will also cut 6 and 10 pin GM keys.

His family might have some of his records which I am sure would show a listing of all keys for any GMC model. You might contact his family to see if they would assist you.

Joe would show you how to make a cut depth reader tool from a metal spatula with the tapered slots. Just put down a piece of masking tape and measure
a variety of non worn keys. Where they stop sliding in the taper, make a mark with Sharpie. Once you get the 5 positions all marked you can number
them 1-5.

You can actually buy the gauges to make new keys for existing locks without a known key as well.

That’s how you do it… and the gauges are specific by lock type.

Like Dolph I have a 77 and my ignition key is a "C" and the other key is a "H"
I am wondering what that means? Mine was made 11-10-1976 and my VIN is TZE267V100920 which is 100 past Dolph's so both of our coaches were made in
1976.
Is it possible that the ignition key follows the manufacture date and the other key follows the model year?
Guess one would need to find a 1977 made in 1977 to see what blanks they use.
