I do know that the air cleaner on my 96 Impala, for which K&N makes an
element, is a remote box with ducting to the air meter. I also know that
there are aftermarket suppliers making "high performance" variants of this
air cleaner, so I would think that if a suitable fitting to adapt the hose
to the carburetor's air horn could be found, an air cleaner would not be a
big problem.

Anybody considered a Land Rover cleaner & snorkel? I'll be messing with
ours next week and can take measurements if wanted.
