Hey Chuck funny you should mention engines that last only 700 miles. I just
got off the phone after an hour talking to Joe Mondello about the GMC
motorhome engine. Wow! He called me after I made an e-mail inquiry to him
about his engines. Is he ever an interesting fellow. Learned a lot about
the 455 adn403 engines in that time.

He described in detail what separates his 455 engines from everyone elses,
and why he is not interested in competing with Jasper or Ninex engines.
There is alot of hand work that goes into his as well as top quality parts.
And yes he makes several engines specifically for the GMC motorhome. He
sells 8-10 a month now. He flatly states that any of his engines can be run
hard in the GMC motorhome and will absolutely not fail. He builds them to be
tough! No spun bearings in this engine! He is going to send me a lot of
technical info on the 4 engines he makes for the GMC as well as all of his
technical literature, and all of the technical articles he has wrote.

Just a little info: In the $7500 engine he uses the original block, crank
and heads (ported and polished) but does extensive work on them He does a
lot of work on the oil galleries of the block, oil restrictors to keep the
oil in the crank, replaces all plugs, line bores the cam bearings, all ARP
fasteners, High Volume oil pump, special chrome moly oil pickup tube,
special oil pump baffle, windage tray, special mondello oil pan with one
quart more capacity than the original, special metal and gasket oil pan
gasket. Guaranteed not to leak. all neoprene gaskets, cross drilled, shot
peened and chamfered crank. Polishes the inside of the stock manifold for
better flow, special roller rocker arms, bronze valve guides, stainless
steel valves, forged pistons, chrome moly rods, special piston rings hand
fitted, special cam with cam buttom(ball bearing end) to get perfect
ignition timeing, and indium coated bearings (same as Mercedes Benz). Wow!
First class from everything we discussed. This engine is for the guy that
positively does not want to break down on the road. He says these engines
are bullet proof. He says he has never had to replace one yet since he has
been building them. Each engine is run in and dyno checked before shipping.

Talked to him about providing an engine for our GMC land speed record Arch.
He says he can provide and engine that will blow the doors off the record
even hauling 2-3 others drinking scotch and playing cards. Even turbo charged.

He is also interested in setting up a stocking point here on the East coast
for his products, engines etc. Anyone think there would be enough interest?
I told him that in my opinion most people would not want to spend that kind
of money for an engine in a crate. They want a turnkey operation. Drive the
coach in and burn rubber out after the mondello engine is installed.

If anyone is interested I will post the other information I get from him.

He uses

>Is this really necessary? I used nitrogen to dry the lines and had no
problems at
>all. The GMC sat in Utah for 5 winter months getting an engine that lasted
only
>700 mile. (another story). Chuck
