If you hated the bearing stuff and the wheel well liners wait till you get
this ;>)

Jardine (mister exhaust / Header for 30 years) gave a seminal at the rally.
Here are some notes:

*Sells Thorley Headers
*Torque those babies on at 85 lb ignore manuf. settings
*Header life about 350,000 miles
*Headers with stock mufflers will get hot, no flow
*Headers reduce temp 300 to 400 deg.
*Be sure gasket does not block the exhaust holes
*Coatings look good, little help with temp (don't coat)
*Thorley 14 gauge metal, cheap ones 19.
*Common iron outlast the exotic metals on headers
*Left side blocks governor, no change in the future
*single rear muffler-could help heat-could help power
*Loss of heat tube-rejet for cold air
*Move timing up with headers-(10-12 deg. base)

He answered a lot of questions about coating. He said it looks great but
does little for heat and nothing for the flow. Not all agreed with him,
but he has been doing this on GMC and Racing cars for 30 years. They sell
a 3 inch complete kit for the GMC. He no longer makes headers he just
sells Thorley. The arrived in a 110 foot SOB, well it looked that long.

Gene,
Did he say how much his 3" kit is?
Thats next on my list of "Sweat Lodge"
things to do. Omaha does not have a
place that has done 3" on the GMC yet so
if I can get a kit then I can get it
done.
Did he mention a way to contact him as
well? Internet I hope... Thanks!

John,

I'd be interested in what you find out since I also have a set of HPC coated
Thorleys and a pair of Flowmaster mufflers gathering dust in the shop.

John,
Thanks! I also asked them the same
since I already have headers. Should be
about 1/2 that easy...
