I just had a 3.55 final drive installed at Buskirks in Late October.
Took 2 guys about an hour and 40 min. and yes they had their own special
tools to do the job quickly. These guys do alot of these and they know
what to look for when R&R the drive.

Larry, Emery is correct. My experience was that socket needed to unbolt
drive axle flanges from the Final drive was a 7/16" 12-point sold at
Sears and many other places.

Another handy tool is a shop service jack (aka floor jack) to raise and
lower the final drive once you've got it unbolted. The final drive is
heavy.

It took me most of the weekend to take out the OEM 3.07 and install a
3.42 last summer, but I did everything very slowly. If you can find a
service facility that will do the work for you for the 3 to 4 hours it
appears it should take, then I would recommend that route to you.

Somewhere in the Archives I did a more detailed post on this subject
last year, but I couldn't tell you where to find it. BTW, Netters, what
ever became of the project to develop a search engine for the Archives?
