Jacking Rear tires and air bags......

Hi,

When jacking up the rear tires, is there something to use to prevent the
tires from pulling the air bag apart? At least that is what it looked like
it was going to do. I stopped lifting before the cones pulled out of the
bag, and decided to ask for an opinion. I was using a floor jack, lifting on
the bogie mount, being careful not to touch the arms. (don't want to bend
those!)

Or is this nothing to worry about?

you also need the HOOK

While we're on this subject, I have a question.....

We have a 20" piece of 3/4" threaded rod w/ washers and nuts to use in case
of a "blown air bag" emergency. Before we buy a "hook" to be able to lift
the coach enough with my bottle jack to install it, I need to know how much
height will be available for the bottle jack with the coach bottomed out.
I'm not sure my jack collapses far enough. Has anyone made this measurement?

Does Harrison's "Hook" provide more clearance for the jack? I'd erather not
have to also buy a new jack.

If you look at the pictures of the "hook" on my web page, you will see the
position on the jack with the GMC at normal running height. If you are
dragging the boggy pivot on the ground due to terrain or failure, I don't
think anything will get under it. Another good use of the bottle jack might
be to get under the frame with the "plate" to protect the frame and jack
the down and dirty GMC up and block it until you can get under the
boggie.....

Good plan, I am going for the frame with support, but hope the new tires
will not make this necessary
