Has anyone found out anything about www.gevo.com ? Apparently they flew an
Alaskan Airline jet on Nov. 14th using a derivative of this stuff. And now their
website says they are marketing a blend of 12&1/2% isobutanol and gasoline.
It's supposed to come in 93 and 95 octane and it burns clean. It also is
storable long term. Test marketing is in the Houston, Texas area.

A quick visit to their website leaves me with the distint impression they are trying to raise capital via press release.

Think we are a long way off from a viable petroleum substitute as long as oil prices are low and suppply is stable

Not that impressed that something works as a jet fuel....which as a POL tech told me once is glorified kerosene.

I was referring to alcohol in a generic sense.

And yes, I do know the difference between Propan-2-ol and 2-methylpropan-1-ol

Would you like an extra oxygen with those carbons?

Reminds me of walking through a manufacturing plant in the 1980’s and watching the production team washing their hands with 1,1,1-Trichloroethane because the Union business agent said it was OK.
