First of all, great forum!

I have a '77 Royale that I purchased in 2015 and drove from Ohio to Washington. Great way to get to know your new acquisition!

We have been working on it and enjoying it at the same time.

This years winter project will be fuel injection and (time permitting) final drive replacement for towing the CJ5 I've rebuilt.

Welcome to the forum. What floorplan do you have? I almost bought a Royale that had the kitchen to the left of the door.
I believe that it is referenced as the Royale Rear Dinette floorplan. As my wife says, the one with the bar...

We have converted the back to a queen bed (sideways)

Hello jjdebarros, nice to know there is someone else with the GMC in this neck of the woods. I'm just 75 miles south of you :) Perhaps one day we can have a beer and share war stories

The Google Group GMCMH EFI has lots of info. Ray Swartzendruber's presentation is a good place to start. Roughly...
  • Harvest or purchase....
    • Throttle Body
    • ECM
    • Harness
    • Sensors
  • Send ECM to Dynamic EFI for conversion to the EBL system.
  • Install
I took my time and set up the ECM and TB on the DR table, with the harness and some sensors, hooked it to a 12V power supply, plugged it into my laptop, fired up the What''s up Display program and found out that the room was at 70 degrees (coolant sensor) and the throttle position readout changed when I moved the butterflies. Next, I filled the mainfold with aluminum and added block-off plates, installed the EFI distributor, ECM, and harness with just the distributor and coolant temp sensor connected and proceeded to drive around with just using it for spark control. Finally, I finished up the fuel system, installed the throttle body, and drove it to a rally in the next state.

It is not necessarily less expensive than some of the new systems, but it does spark and knock control and offers all the tuning opportunities you could ever want or need. And you can buy parts for it at/through your friendly auto parts store.

jjdebarros,

Welcome to the group, family, cult, asylum....

If you did not get complete documentation with the coach, it can all be downloaded at <gmcmi.com>

We can be more help if you build a sigfile. I like ones that have a real name (I have felt kind of stupid when I run into an owner that I have already met online, but can't recognize by name in person.), include a short bit about the coach and include major mods (like EFI) so answers are better and a geographic reference is good too because you may already have a local friend that can be of great assistance.

The community of GMC owners is amazing. You should look to join the local chapter at first opportunity. The community is so supportive and helpful that it is truly awesome in the full meaning of the word. As the only other community that I know of that is at all like this is the watermen of my world, I like to welcome new owners in a fashion much like what is used there. So,

May the Good Lord bless this coach and all those that set forth within her.

Welcome jjdebarros
